Image compositing

GOAL: Create a unique and interesting set of 3 different composite images, each composited from at least two separate photos that blend elements of both into a new and creative subject with an intended message.

Image compositing is two photos combined into one. I think these photos are created to send a message to people and also to express imagination and creativity. Rule of thirds is to make the image symmetrically correct, and even. It can be used incorrectly when the subject of the photo is not the whole focus. Professional Photographers think about how they can include rule of thirds and include the theme of the photo. I do not believe all photos should be edited. Some photos are better without editing.

I believe the strongest message I will show is that the sky is the limit. I will try to show that through hard work anything is possible. The angle I will use for the sky will be point of view and the picture of myself will be flat angle. I will not have focal point in my image. I want there eyes to first go to me. I will try and emphasize myself in the clouds.

Visual statement

Pollution Solution from Kapaa Warriors MEDIA on Vimeo.

My topic for this project was pollution and the affect it has on the beach and in the air. This is important to my partner and I because we go to the beach a lot and we notice there has been a lot of trash on the beach and in the water. I believe that the goal of this project was to inform people on pollution and how you can prevent it. We also thought we could get some high quality photos/videos of the beach and the affect it has on pollution. Kashten's role in this project in the beginning was the lead writer and I was the lead photographer. Although I think we kinda switched roles because kashten has a phone that can shoot higher quality videos and photos. Kashten was very helpful and gave me a lot of ideas for the script.

Some of the final cut pro editing tips we used was Jump cut, Color Isolation, Color Balance and Speed ramping. It is important to use Final Cut pro libraries because it shows us how to use the tips and tricks. It is really helpful during the editing process. You have to use the events and projects properly because it is the best way to go. Audio is important because some parts of the video you might be able to hear the wind. I think the video because we have a high quality phone and I don't think the audio was the good.

I believe the biggest challenge was getting visuals. It was hard to get visuals because Kashten has a good camera and I did not.  I was the driving force for this project. Kashten had a lot of ideas and suggestions that I would not have thought of for the script. He also got most of the good high quality footage. The most enjoyable part of this project was that we got to make a video about an issue that we care about.

Modern Art Movement

Paul Cezanne's art use of generic forms to simplify nature was incredibly influential to both Picasso and Braque. Cubism is an early-20th-century art movement which brought European painting and sculpture historically forward toward 20th century Modern art. Cubism in its various forms inspired related movements in literature and architecture. Artists like Paul fill a huge need and example of inspiration to other artists. I personally think Cubism is a great way to show your creativity through art.

Pablo Piccaso

Pablo Piccaso's self portraits of people was my example that I chose. I think Piccaso was trying to express how people looked in a really creative way. I do believe that an artist can persuade someones opinion. One example of this is Paul Cezanne, He inspired both Piccaso and Braque to cubism art. I think advances in art hindered the impact of skilled art. I don't know any great artists who paint or use cubism in the 20th century.

Workplace Safety

P2T3 Workplace Safety from Kapaa Warriors MEDIA on Vimeo.

The goal of this project was to inform everyone about stress and burnout in a fun way. Loren was the actor/video editor. She was the one who had the most knowledge about I movie. Michael was the actor who demonstrated all the symptoms of burnout, he had a lot of energy and was willing to do what needed to be done. Michael also helped out with I movie. We all helped to video. I think Loren deserves most of the credit. She did most of the editing and she had to deal with both me and Michael.

AUDIO Script (What audience will hear)
VISUAL Plan (What audience will see)
*bird noises*
*Screaming and stress*
Loren: Do you constantly break down in tears?
Wide: Peaceful scenery
Medium: Then pan to Michael breaking down in the corner
(Optional)*Freeze frame black and white*
Loren: Have you been losing motivation? Stress eating? Taking out your frustration on others?
Michael sitting in corner (Gloomy)
Michael shoving food into mouth and making a mess *fade to black*
Random screaming in public
Loren: If you are experiencing any of these signs, you may be on the road to burnout. However, if you follow these 5 special steps, you can avoid stress!!
Loren being energetic for once
Jumpy and maybe eccentric
Loren: Step One. Work with purpose.

Laa: Perform a job analysis and eliminate or designate any unnecessary work.
Wide: Michael taking out pencil & paper
Medium: Writing on paper
Close: Pencil on paper drawing boxes.
Wide: Overflowing box of stuff in background labeled “distractions”
Medium: taking paper out of box
Loren: Step Two. Give to others.

Laa: Add some meaning to your life!
Michael goes up to a random group of kids and gives Laa a penny
Loren: Step Three. Get more exercise.

Laa: Surprisingly, it can reduce stress and increase your energy and positivity.
*Final countdown and look epic* Take only one step. Smile thumbs up at the camera and collapses.
Loren: Step Four. Don’t procrastinate.

Laa: It will add to your workload later on, and cause even more stress.
Random distractions then remove them using a jump cut *Use post it notes labeled “distractions”
Loren replaces one post it note with one labeled “productivity”
Loren: Step Five. Get a good night’s sleep.

Laa: This is an EXCELLENT example!!
Michael sleeping in class (obvious and cheesy)
Loren: Remember, if you follow these 5 extra special steps you can avoid anxiety AND burnout!!!! *thumbs up*

Laa: Seriously, your life will be soooo much better. *thumbs up*
Loren being jumpy
Cut to Michael still stressed in the corner
Loren walks up to Michael
Laa with the thumbs up

My biggest take away from this project was time management. Time management is very important because of the limited time we had to do this. Our highest critique result was entertainment value because the audience was entertained. Our lowest result was clarity of audio because in some parts of the video you can't hear what we are saying. I think one thing we could have done differently was voice over the lines. Then add that audio to the video. This would have helped our video greatly because there were times in the video where you couldn't hear what we were saying because of the wind.

Art and Design

Texture, Space, Line and Value are the elements of art used in my Line drawing. I created a pattern drawing in the dark space. Also in the pattern you can see where it was dark then it gets lighter. I also used straight and curvy lines in my texture drawing. The size of the brush made a big difference and the shade in my texture makes it pop. I think the most enjoyable part of this is probably value. This is my favorite part because its cool to see the difference in lightness and darkness in the pattern.

I got my landscape image from I chose this image because I really liked it and I wanted an image with the ocean. Texture is being shown as you can see it looks like a pencil drawing, Value is also another element demonstrated in this picture, you can see where its supposed to be light and dark. One of the elements that my texture drawing has and my landscape doesn't is space. In the landscape the picture isn't focused on one object where as the texture it is focused on the card. I stayed more with the basic tutorial and I was not able to use the advanced tutorial techniques. I think because of this my image was ok but nothing special.

This portrait photo was taken at Vidhina stadium at one of my varsity soccer games last year. This is a picture of myself and this is the first game we won and it was against Waimea and Waimea ended up winning the KIF. We were the only team to beat them. My photo shows all of the elements of art. Shape is being shown in the three sections of my portrait. You can see value and texture to the left of my image. Line is being shown to the right side of my image.

Audio Production

Intonation is the rise and fall of the voice of speaking. Inflection can be used when you have a different audience. One example of this is if your speaking on the radio you are not going to try and sound like a news anchor. My role in this assignment was probably a vocal talent. I had to answer a few questions and share my answer in the recording. I had to play the role of the phone caller, saying my opinion to the radio host. The rehearsal process is key. You only have one take so your whole team has to be on the same page. Its very helpful that I help out my teammates and vice versa.

I think my team did well on this project. All of our components were good. My team and I could work on the clarity of our voice. I could have sounded a little more enthusiastic. In our group no one really took charge and was a leader. Although I think Tierra did a good job of controlling us and made sure we got our work done. If I had to do this project again with the same group of people the only thing I would do differently is rehearse more. I think if we rehearsed more our video could have been even better.

Proprietary Information

Copyright infringement is stealing peoples work or things and claiming as your own. Consequences of copy right infringement are 5-10 years in prison a fine of 250,000 dollars and is doubled if you do it more than once. In order to use copy righted items you have to ask for permission from the owner and get his permission in writing. Fair Use is the doctrine that brief experts of copyright material may be quoted, for news, teaching and research without permission. One example of this is if we are taking lyrics from a song or words from a book to critique it. Another example of this could be parody, this is when you imitate the style of an artist or writer.

Confidentiality is keeping something private or secret. One example of this is we should keep our social security confidential. Another thing we should keep private is our birth certificate. The last thing we should keep secret is our address. We have to be smart with social media and putting things on it. Also if your in a relationship with someone and they ask for personal information in the beginning of the relationship they could be using you to get your credit card info. I believe censorship keeps people safe. Between the 1st and 5th amendment I think the right to privacy is the most important. I think this is the most important because if the wrong people know where you live and all there personal info then they can hurt you. I do believe the FBI should be able to access the phone of a criminal, I believe by doing this there will not be as much crime.
